TO MY CHURCH FAMILY: Thank you all so much for the cards and prayers! Your prayers are being felt, and they are very appreciated! This has been an experience I will never forget, but it has certainly come with many challenges. Knowing I have your love and support brings me so much comfort being so far from home. Again, thank you so much! God bless!
Rachael Landes

THANK YOU for the wonderful support you’ve shown throughout this deployment. I was tremendously blessed by the many cards and letters you sent for my 40th birthday. I was not at all expecting them and it genuinely filled my heart with joy…so thank you for your time and consideration…you are truly a blessing!
John Parker

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK everyone for their cards, phone calls, visits, and prayers while I was in the hospital and recovering at home. I am blessed to be a member of such a loving church family.
Kathy Perry

Expected to be available in late 2011, the Committee is offering the book at the pre-publication price of $32 plus $5 shipping for each copy ordered. This first history of Shenandoah Presbytery offers 450 pages of church profiles, an oversize fold-out map with church locations, photographs of all 110 churches, early histories of the Winchester and Lexington Presbyteries and lots of photographs! Order forms are available at http://www.shenpres.org/HistoryBook.html or you may call the church office.

PRESBYTERIAN DISASTER RELIEF. There are over 100 work teams that are ready to go to help with flooding and tornado damage. The need for money is overwhelming as this is the worst year of disasters since records have been kept. Kits are needed always. Thank you Circle 1 for stepping up to prepare them. Over 1200 have been sent so far. Remember, when you have nothing and are in a shelter, a personal kit is most welcome. They will be taken to Church World Service shortly. They have the transportation available to help. Meanwhile, thank you for the donations to the shower trailer outreach. We need to help all we can. All of us can remember our flood of '85.

NEW MEMBER CLASS. Been attending Keyser Presbyterian Church for awhile? Want to learn more about the Presbyterian Church? Wonder why we do the things we do the way we do? Pastor Karen is offering a class, “Come and See: Life in the Presbyterian Church,” which will be held through Lent on Sunday mornings beginning February 26, from 9:45-10:30 in her office. If you are interested in learning more, or if you are interested in officially joining Keyser Presbyterian Church, this class is for you! The plan is to receive new members on Palm Sunday, April 1, 2012, during worship. Please let Pastor Karen know at 304-788-2412 or revren84@frontier.com if you will participate in this class. Thanks!

SPECIAL OFFERING.
On Monday, Ty Robinette, daughter of our custodian Odetta, and her fiancé lost everything they owned in a fire in their apartment in Morgantown. They were uninsured. The Session at the regular monthly meeting Tuesday evening voted to receive a special offering to help Ty and her fiancé as they recover from this devastating loss. The offering will be received at the Annual Meeting of the Congregation immediately following worship today in the Fellowship Hall. There will also be an offering plate set out in the narthex next Sunday for those who wish to give but do not have the opportunity this Sunday. Thanks for your compassionate generosity.

4 CENTS-A-MEAL OFFERING
will be received February 26. Thank you for helping the children collect coins to fight hunger. If you would like to participate, it’s easy! 1) Pick up a little jar from the gray cart in the lobby. 2) For each meal that you eat, place 4 cents in the jar. 3) Bring the jar full of money back on the 4th Sunday of the month and the children will collect the jars in their little red wagon. Proceeds go to our local Faith-In-Action Food Pantry and also to the Presbytery’s Bread for the World Fund.

FEBRUARY GREETERS
are Sam & Sandy Kalbaugh.

FEBRUARY COUNTERS
are Jack & Carol Landes, Jean Burgess and Lynn Luvara.

FEBRUARY USHERS
are Jeff Burgess (Head), Craig Fazenbaker, Ed Smith & Kirby Adkins.

It’s that time of year! Time to start thinking about VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL! The Christian Education Committee is asking YOU to search your heart and see if YOU would be willing to devote YOUR TIME and TALENT to this program. If you are interested in taking on the job as director, please talk to Pastor Karen, Mary Jane or any member of the Christian Ed. Committee today.

PLEASE HELP make a little boy’s wish come true. Max is 5 years old and has leukemia. He says, “If I could have one wish, it would be to get a million Christmas cards.” You can send cards to Max at 752-B Weaver Street, Morgantown, WV 26505. Thank you for helping to make his wish come true!

2012 GIVERS ENVELOPES. Please pick up your envelopes today. Boxes are labeled and arranged alphabetically on the table in the Narthex. You may contact the church office at 304-788-2142 or sign the sheet on the table in the Narthex if we missed anyone.

WV HOUSE PAGE PROGRAM. Mineral County Delegate Gary Howell is encouraging 5th through 12th grade students from this area to participate in the WV House Page Program. House pages perform errands and various duties for the 100-member Houser of Delegates during daily floor sessions as the house is in session January 11-March 10, 2012. For more information, see the letter posted on the bulletin board in the narthex, or go to www.legis.state.wv.us and click on the Educational Tab. Applications should be submitted as soon as possible, as slots fill quickly.

2012 PER CAPITA ASSESSMENT. The Presbytery has set this year’s annual assessment at $18.00 per member. Please use your designated offering envelope. Every member is encouraged to pay this assessment; otherwise the church is responsible for it.

PRESBYTERIAN DISASTER ASSISTANCE. A request from the committee. We are hoping to get 100 clean up buckets to prepare for the spring flooding. Because they are expensive to fill we are sending this out to all churches. Keyser Presbyterian has been asked to donate 100 packages of 7 assorted sponges each and 20 packages of clothespins (45-50) in a pack. Already donated are the 3 buckets with lids and the $9. Deadline is February 5. The buckets will be filled at the February Presbytery meeting at Mt. Olive. Please help.

CALLING ALL KNITTERS! Do you knit or crochet? We are hoping to start a Prayer Shawl Ministry in the congregation, and need volunteers who would be willing to create the shawls. Donna Parker is gathering information on the sizes and instructions for the shawls. This is an exciting opportunity for a new ministry in our congregation. Perhaps you could even learn a new skill!! Please let Pastor Karen or Donna know if you are interested.

FAITH-IN-ACTION FOOD PANTRY. Please remember our food pantry. Needed always are soup and crackers, peanut butter and jelly, pasta and sauce, pancake mix (water base) and syrup, canned vegetables and fruit, tuna, baked beans, rice.

HAITI-CHANGING MILK MONEY TO LUNCH MONEY! For a number of years, coins placed in the offering plate (other than 4 cents a meal Sunday) have been sent to Haiti to support a cup of milk for each child when they arrive at school because they travel long distances and have had no food. However, due to the cost of food now, the Haiti mission has asked that we change that and help support feeding the children lunch. If there is money left over, it will be given to pay for milk. Pray for the children of Haiti.

FOUR CENTS A MEAL PROGRAM. Keep those coins coming. 2 Cents stays IN OUR COMMUNITY and 2 cents goes to the PRESBYTERY for the Hunger Program.

HAITI. Have you made your donation yet? $75 per child to fund school supplies and teacher salaries.

HELPING HANDS. Thank you for your support of this. The need is great and it is hard to keep up.

STEWARDSHIP. Have you turned in your 2012 Pledge Card yet? Please pray and discern how you can support the mission and ministry of Keyser Presbyterian Church, and turn in your pledge card soon so the final budget for 2012 can be completed. Thank you!

CHRISTMAS JOY GIFT. Just a reminder that you may still donate to Christmas Joy Gift. Please use the Christmas Joy envelope from your box or make a note on your check.

They will meet the volunteer nursery attendants in the Narthex who will take them to the nursery for the remaining part of the service. Session asks for volunteers to sign up on the sheet provided on the bulletin board in the Narthex. Thank you!
